Pace, finish-time prediction, and split table for any race distance.
🏃 Race predictions assume you hold the same pace — most runners slow slightly over longer distances, so treat longer predictions as optimistic targets.
Pace is minutes per kilometer or mile — lower means faster. Enter any known distance and finish time above and the calculator derives pace, speed, and equivalent performances across standard race distances.
Equivalent times assume you sustain the same pace, which favors optimistic long-distance targets. Most runners slow 2-4% per distance doubling; adjust expectations accordingly.
Beginner 5K pace often sits around 6:30-8:00 min/km, intermediate runners run 5:00-6:15, and elite athletes hold under 3:00. Compare against yourself over time rather than others.
The proven race strategy is running the second half slightly faster than the first. Use the split table mentally: if target pace feels easy in the first third, hold back anyway.

The Running Pace Calculator lets you figure out running pace calculatorinstantly, without reaching for a spreadsheet or doing the math by hand. Whether you're planning a budget, checking a loan, or working through homework, the tool applies the correct formula behind the scenes and shows the result the moment you enter your numbers.
Unlike a static chart or table, this calculator adapts to your exact inputs. You can adjust any value and see the outcome update in real time, which makes it easy to compare scenarios — for example, "what if the rate were 1% lower?" or "what if I paid an extra $50 a month?"
Common uses: people reach for this tool when they need to find a half marathon pace calculator, minutes per km to mph, marathon finish time predictor, or running split times calculator.
Browser-based tools like this one have a few real advantages over installed software or manual methods:
The Running Pace Calculator is based on the following formula:
pace = time ÷ distance (min per km or per mile) speed = distance ÷ time (km/h or mph) finish time = pace × distance
Variables: pace = Time per unit distance (min:sec per km or mile) speed = Distance per unit time (km/h or mph) time = Total running time (minutes) distance = Race or run length (km or miles)
Pace spreads your total time evenly over each kilometer or mile, and it is the exact reciprocal of speed. Because it is linear, multiplying a pace by any race distance predicts finish times for the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon.
Worked example: Step 1: A 10 km run in 52:30 = 52.5 min. Step 2: pace = 52.5 ÷ 10 = 5.25 min/km = 5:15 per km. Step 3: speed = 10 ÷ 52.5 × 60 ≈ 11.4 km/h. Step 4: Marathon at the same pace: 5.25 × 42.195 ≈ 221.5 min ≈ 3:41:31. Result: pace 5:15/km, speed about 11.4 km/h, marathon prediction about 3:41:31.
